Pool Safety
Summary
In this page, you will find safety precautions that will keep you safe while you are swimming in your/someone else's pool.
Tip 1- Fence Around the Pool
Always make sure that your pool has a secure fence surrounding the perimeter. This will prevent you/people around the pool safe in case someone falls in. To check if your pool meets the fence safety regulations, click here.
Tip 2- Reduce clutter from the pool area
Although you may have a secure fence, a child can climb on item around the pools fence, such as a chair or a large pot plant. All you need to do to stop this scenario from happening is to just remove these items from around the pool.
Tip 3- Learn CPR
Early help for someone drowning can save their life, so you need to learn CPR. To learn the steps to CPR, click here
Tip 4- Always have parental supervision
It does not matter how old you are, you must all ways have supervision or be swimming with someone, in case something happens to you. This way the person can call the ambulance and begin CPR. If no one was there you would drown (if you were in trouble).
Tip 5- Keep a lock on the Pool Gate
Keeping a lock on a pool gate seems like common sense, but 30% of Australia's pools do not have a lock. Always make sure that your pool gate has a secure lock and can not be reached by children.
